Project Updates
Project updates will be posted here as the research project progresses. If you have any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact us via the contact page, or using the email addresses at the bottom of the page.
- March 2018: Website launched. Many thanks to Sure Software for their expertise and quick responses.
- April 2018: The Invitation to Participate is on target to be sent to school principals in early Term Two. Keep an eye out for it arriving in your school.
- May 2018: An Invitation to Participate has been sent to the principals of 610 state and state-integrated schools throughout New Zealand. Principals have been asked to forward this invitation to all of the teachers in their school. If you have received this email from your principal and want to ask some additional questions, do not hesitate to contact the researcher through the Contact page. Please keep in mind that some principals have decided for a variety of valid reasons to not forward the invitation to their staff.
- Late May 2018: Overall, the response has been very positive. Many encouraging emails have been received and it is clear that people from throughout the education community feel strongly about the wellbeing of New Zealand teachers. More questionnaire responses will help to ensure the findings are statistically significant as the numbers are still on the low side. If you are considering participating, please give this serious consideration. Teachers' voices are what makes this study important - their viewpoint, their thinking, their experience coming through.
- Late June 2018: The questionnaire has now closed and data analysis has begun. Many thanks to the generous gift of time hundreds of teachers have given to this project. I look forward to sharing findings with you and others who are interested in the wellbeing of teachers in New Zealand.
- October 2019: Interviews have been carried out with teachers from throughout New Zealand. This has been an incredible privilege and extremely rewarding.
- July 2020: The interview data has been analysed and is now being written up.
- November 2020: The writing of thesis chapters is continuing. The intention is for some findings to be shared from early 2021.
